MEC says Wartburg shooting is taxi violence related
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The KwaZulu-Natal Education Department says the deadly shooting in Wartburg has been linked to taxi violence.
A 34-year-old Swayimane driver was killed and three teachers critically wounded, when their taxi came under fire in Bruyns Hill on Tuesday.
The Masijabule High teachers were going to work.
KZN Education MEC, Kwazi Mshengu says it's unfortunate that the educators got caught in the crossfire.

"What is clear is that this is a taxi-related incident because the intention is now clear from the police that was to get the driver.
"It is now going to be difficult for other teachers to use such a mode of transport because it came under fire when they had nothing to do with the taxi violence as it is alleged this instance."
Wartburg police are investigating charges of murder and attempted murder.
