Mboweni reprimanded for comments on sacking of Zambia's Central Bank Governor
Updated | By Newswatch
Finance Minister Tito Mboweni has been rapped over the knuckles for his comments about the sacking of Zambia's Central Bank Governor.
Mboweni used Twitter to chastise Zambian president, Edgar Lungu's decision to remove Denny Kalyalya as the head of the bank, calling it nonsense.
He goes on to demand that Lungu must give reasons for the dismissal, saying he will 'mobilise' if this doesn't happen.
The Zambian government has hit back, with their Information and Broadcasting Services Minister, Dora Siliya saying Mboweni's criticism of a sovereign decision is improper and immature.

Lusaka says it will pursue the matter diplomatically.
The Office of the President says Cyril Ramaphosa has strongly reprimanded Mboweni and is making sure this doesn't happen again.
Ramaphosa has told Zambia that the remarks don't reflect the views of the South African government and its people.
"The issue is being addressed to ensure that such an incident does not occur again.
"South Africa and Zambia enjoy strong historical relations dating back to the days of the struggle against apartheid. South Africa remains committed to maintaining the deep and solid bonds of friendship between the peoples of South Africa and Zambia."
