The information will be presented to Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Police before it's released publicly.

Analysts say the political killings in KwaZulu-Natal and gang-related violence in the Western Cape are set to be key issues.

Corruption Watch's David Lewis says another concern is that both the Hawks and SAPS don't have permanent heads.

"It's not a question of a lack of resources. All the performance figures for the police have deteriorated. This suggests very strongly about how the resources are deployed which is a leadership problem," he says.

Lewis says they estimate that murder has increased. They believe that an average of 50 people get killed in South Africa every day.

"What we need is an appointment process that will better ensure that we get a competent and honest Police Commissioner and head of the Hawks. Both previous incumbents left their positions disgraced," he says.
