UPDATE: Emergency services have successfully retrieved a man allegedly thrown off the N3 bridge from the bottom of Paradise Valley in Pinetown.
Listen to the full bulletin below.
Paramedics and Police Search & Rescue officers had to use a complex rope system to pull the man - who had fallen 25-metres from the bridge - from the bottom of the valley back up to the freeway.
Rescue Care's Ceron Lennox says he was stabilised on scene before he was taken to hospital.
"He is talking, he is very aware of his surroundings and knows what's happening. We're expecting very moderate injuries.
"A lot of time and energy went into it. Search and Rescue set up a hauling system using a few ropes. We had him in a stokes basket - so we had a hauling team at the top. We had to get him up most of the way before being able to haul him up. It took about 12 to 13 rescuers to get him up to the top," she said.
