Man recovering after N2 bakkie crash near Toti
A man is recovering after the bakkie he was driving overturned on the N2 freeway in the vicinity of Doonside near Amanzimtoti last night.
It is understood the vehicle veered off the road at 6-o'clock before hitting an embankment and rolling about 50-metres.
Netcare 911 says the driver had been flung from the bakkie.
Paramedics and firefighters found him lying about 100 metres from the wreckage.
He was treated on scene before being taken to hospital.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
Meanwhile, a 12-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a bakkie in the Amajuba District yesterday.
Robert McKenzie from KZN Emergency Medical Services says the vehicle crashed into the boy near Nandi Bridge on the N11.
"Paramedics from KZN Emergency Medical Services performed CPR on the child in an attempt to save its life. However, sadly he did not respond to the treatment and passed away at the scene.
The exact circumstances resulting in the crash are not known at this stage and will be investigated by the police," he said.
