Man due in court following Toti shooting drama

A 32-year-old man is due to appear in court soon on charges of attempted murder and robbery following a shooting in Amanzimtoti, south of Durban.
The suspect allegedly robbed a man near the railway station on Friday.
Residents from the nearby flats then pointed out where the suspect fled on foot and a chase ensued.
SAPS spokesperson Thembeka Mbele confirmed the incident.
Authorities waited for low tide and used a metal detector to locate and recover the weapon.
The victim alerted a security guard before the suspect allegedly shot him in the chest and tried to escape.

Police and security organisations responded and secured the area.Residents from the nearby flats then pointed out where the suspect fled on foot and a chase ensued.
SAPS spokesperson Thembeka Mbele confirmed the incident.
"A 27-year-old man was shot and wounded in a robbery near Beach Road. He was rushed to hospital for medical attention with a gunshot wound to the chest," said Mbele.

The suspect allegedly tried to throw the firearm into the sea.Authorities waited for low tide and used a metal detector to locate and recover the weapon.
