Today marks the first day of government's Child Protection Week.Omar, who also serves as a clinical director at The Teddy Bear Foundation, says it is everyone's role to protect children.
She feels the laws and policies put in place to protect young people need to be better enforced.
"We have the best policies and legislation in place, but implementation is so poor it is not actually happening. We need to start ensuring that those laws and policies are actually rolled out," said Omar.
"We need to start hearing the children."
Child Protection Week 2019 runs from the June 02 to June 09.
