Madikizela-Mandela's nephew back in court over missing birthday money

Winnie Madikizela-Mandela's nephew is expected to appear in the Orlando Magistrate's Court on a charge of theft after the R83 000 in cash went missing from her home.

Thirty-year-old Zolile Madikizela was arrested last week after Colin Mtileni, who works at the Madikizela-Mandela household in the Soweto suburb, opened a case against him after money that had been given to her at her 80th birthday celebrations was allegedly stolen. 


Madikizela-Mandela celebrated her 80th birthday on the 26th of September and attended a gala dinner in her honour.

Her nephew appeared in court briefly and was not granted bail.


It was reported that the struggle stalwart discovered the cash was missing when she took her bag out of her wardrobe to get money for bread.
