LISTEN: Over 11 000 people jabbed on Day 1 of Phase 2
Updated | By Newswatch
Health Minister Zweli Mkhize says at least 11 000 people were vaccinated on Monday at the start of Phase Two of the coronavirus vaccine rollout.
Mkhize says officials are still tallying the numbers as some sites had to work manually.
"The load shedding created a challenge with the electronic vaccination data system. It did not affect the cold chain because we have already prepared alternative and contingency arrangements so that there is no chance that the cold chain could be broken.

"The load shedding then disabled the system and made the reception a bit slower and we had to use a lot of manual records but nevertheless, it does not derail our electronic vaccination system."
He's been speaking on Tuesday at the KZN launch of Phase Two of the coronavirus vaccine rollout at the Royal Showgrounds in Pietermaritzburg.
