Although day one of the voter registration weekend was not as busy as expected, KZN electoral manager, Mawethu Mosery said they were satisfied with what they saw.

Mosery said by 2pm yesterday afternoon, KwaZulu-Natal's 4,793 voting stations had each seen, on average, between 50 and 100 people register and check their residential addresses.

"We are encouraged by the numbers we are seeing of voter. It is not as active as we would have liked it to be, but we are satisfied with what we are seeing," he said.

Mosery said it was relatively smooth sailing yesterday.

The IEC embarked on a two-day registration drive this weekend ahead of next year's General Elections.

If you still need to register or check and confirm your residential address, you can head to your local polling station between 8am and 5pm today.
