LISTEN: Full isiZulu interview with #BabySiwaphiwe's dad following her return

The father of the one-month-old baby who was abducted during a hijacking in the Durban CBD area on Friday - says he is relieved and elated that his infant daughter has been found alive.

Siwaphiwe Mbambo disappeared on late on Friday morning, after armed suspects accosted her mother near a Durban shopping centre - forcing her out of her Toyota Yaris - along with her eight-year-old son.

The men sped off in the car - later abandoning it in Montclair, south of Durban - without the baby inside.

The intensive and frantic two-day search for the child came to an end this morning - when a car was stopped at the Mariannhill Toll plaza in the early hours of this morning and the baby was found in it.

Siwaphiwo's father, Felokwakhe Mbambo, says he received a call from police at 3am.


Three suspects have since been arrested - on charges of kidnapping and hijacking. Siwaphiwe's mother is one of the people who has been arrested.
