Last chance for eligible voters to register
The IEC in KZN is urging residents to head to their nearest station today to check that their details and addresses are reflected correctly.
The Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa says it will use this weekend's final registration drive to try and get as many addresses on the voters' roll as possible. First-time voters are also being urged to make sure they are eligible to take part in the country's democracy.
The IEC's Mawethu Mosery says around 1 000 000 KZN voters have incomplete or no address captured on the system.
"They are top of our agenda and dialogue sessions we have held", he said.
"These individuals beyond November 2019, especially when preparing for local government elections, we will have to exclude from voters' roll", Mosery said.
