Updated | By Portia Cele
Grammy-award winning isicathamiya group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo and the Department of Arts and Culture are tomorrow launching a programme that includes a series of music workshops being held around the country.
The Ladysmith Black Mambazo mobile academy will also give aspiring artists an opportunity to learn from and engage with the KZN choral group.
This year, the program will focus on selected provinces - KZN, Eastern Cape, Gauteng and Mpumalanga.
Manager, Xolani Majozi says the academy was founder, Joseph Tshabalala's life-long dream.
Majozi further explains the elements of the programme.
One of the artists will be handpicked and given the chance to collaborate with the group.
"We want young people to learn skills - not music skills but also to draw on moral values from Ladysmith Black Mambazo on how they've made it to be in the music industry for 53 years and to reach the level that they've reached," he said.
