Lack of counselling behind HIV treatment lapse
Updated | By Anelisa Khubeka
Delegates from India taking part in the 21st International Aids Conference in Durban say children there often lapse on their HIV treatment due to side effects and a lack of counselling.
Urana India representatives took part in an interactive workshop last night focusing on the development of a quality, healthy life for children with HIV through paediatric counselling.
Jogendra Upadhyay says side effects include bacterial and viral infections as well as skin and dental problems.
"In India dental problems are very high in children with HIV. About 62% of them suffering with this issue" he said.
