Labour Department warns of UIF scams

No one's meant to pay for services from the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF).
If you're asked to fork out cash for assistance - it's a scam.
The Employment and Labour Department's been alerted to Facebook messages posted by someone, who goes by the name Sharleen Chetty.

The person claims to be from the Labour Department and offers people assistance for a fee of R200.
The department's Musa Zondi has urged people not to fall for it.
He says there are a number of fraudsters online.
"There are quite a number of other scams as well that we have picked up where people are told that the department is offering some R30 000 if you've been a South African and you've been working for this long - those are all scams."

He's says if you're not sure about something, you need to contact them.
"It is important to check with us where you can - if you go onto our social media pages whether on Facebook or Twitter, Instagram and YouTube - you can always ask a question through our Twitter handle and Facebook and we will answer almost immediately."
