KZNMatricResults: Plans are in place to support learners who fell short - MEC

There are a number of avenues for matric learners who fell short of the pass mark, to write the National Senior Certificate examinations again.

That is the message from Education MEC Kwazi Mshengu who announced the province's results in Durban, on Wednesday.

18,7% of the 116 937 learners who sat for last year's final exams did not make it.


KwaZulu-Natal Education plans to assist these learners through a second chance programme.


Mshengu says close family and friends need to support these learners.

"We encourage all of you to contact the nearest district offices for further details, and we appeal to everyone to support them as they remain important future role players in our communities."


"We must not give undue credit to them. We must give them support so that we don't have incidents of suicide because learners feel that is the end of their future," he said.
