KZN weather expected to improve slightly on Wednesday

While the strong winds and hailstorms in KZN have damaged homes, knocked out power, and brought down trees, conditions are expected to improve somewhat from Wednesday.

"We don't expect any rain. However, it's going to be very cold in most parts of the province, especially around the Drakensberg region," says forecaster at the South African Weather Service, Wiseman Dlamini

"So you can expect temperatures below 16 degrees for the Drakensberg region, and then for areas around Durban and the surroundings, about a maximum of 20 degrees expected for tomorrow.

“In the North Coast, around Richards Bay and the surroundings, we are expecting temperatures to be around 20 to 21 degrees."

Dlamini says the KZN coast will still experience rough seas tomorrow.

"For people who will be out to sea, we're still expecting strong gale-force winds for tomorrow for most of the day. The wind should start to subside late afternoon or towards the evening. There might also be very rough seas. For people who will be going fishing tomorrow, it is not advised because of the strong winds and the highway waves."

Earlier, local government authorities said six out of 11 districts have been affected by the inclement weather, with Ugu District being the worst hit.
