KZN schools gear up for ANA
Updated | By Nondumiso Zakwe
This morning department officials visited Quarry Heights Primary where teachers have downed tools due to over crowding.
Spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi says the department will not tolerate any disruptions.
''It can't be that in September the teachers would raise the issue of overcrowding because admission is not done by learners but educators,'' he said.
However, SADTU has called on its members to boycott the assessments, saying ANA is not a sufficient tool to measure progress in primary school learners.
The union's Nomarashiya Caluza says the department should be working to find solutions to their problems.
''It's useless to write ANA on annual basis because it was meant to diagnose the problem so one can't keep on diagnosing everything without providing a solution,'' she said.
