KZN officer killed in M13 accident

Metro's Eugene Msomi says it is still unclear what duty the officer had been performing at the time. 

Msomi says it appears as if the officer had been stopping a vehicle on the M13 freeway when he was struck by the taxi. 

He says the driver of the vehicle is still on scene with police. A case of reckless and negligent driving has been opened.

"He unfortunately died on scene. We're still in the process of investigating. The investigation is at its primary stage. The decision to further arrest this individual will be taken. As we stand, things are still unfolding. We should know at a later stage whether we're going to keep this person in custody," he said.
