KZN making progress: Premier
Updated | By Zongile Mthimkhulu
KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Senzo Mchunu says despite certain challenges, the province is on the right track.
"Amongst this challenge, including challenges of criminality emanating from various quotas but by in large KZN is stable, the province of KZN is peaceful, and it is making progress in terms of economic development," he says.
Mchunu made the comments during a cabinet lekgotla in Durban yesterday.
Mchunu stressed that xenophobic violence earlier this year tarnished the province's image.
He says officials are doing all they can to ensure that similar attacks do not reoccur in the region.
"Of course, that violence caused a lot of pain to all of us in the country, in the province and in the world - because it is never nice to witness the attack of fellow human beings by other human beings. It negated the spirit of our democratic South Africa with the kind of constitution that we have," he said.
