The Electoral Commission says South Africans responded positively to the voter registration weekend ahead of the local government elections in November.
The second and final weekend of in-person voter registration has wrapped up, with the commission saying more than 23 000 voting stations were operational across the country.

A preliminary report shows that KwaZulu-Natal recorded the highest number of voter registration transactions, followed by the Eastern Cape and Gauteng.
During the country's first voter registration weekend in June, over 3 million registration transactions were recorded.
The IEC's Sy Mamabolo says at this time, voters can still update details online.
"We urge all eligible citizens to ensure that they are correctly registered and assigned to the right voting district within the ward."
"This is important because in local government elections, you may only vote for a ward councillor in a ward in which you are ordinarily resident. You do not have an opportunity to vote outside a voting station of your own registration."
