He joined Health MEC Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu at the KwaMashu Sports Centre on Wednesday to officially launch the Covid-19 vaccine rollout for teachers.

He says there are currently 70 vaccination sites across the province for this purpose.

"In this centre alone today, we are expecting to vaccinate just over 500 educators and every day then, we will be giving statistics on how man educators are vaccinated."

Mshengu says the department also has an advocacy programme to get more educators jabbed.

"If you don't vaccinate, you can then claim again that you still want to work remotely, so you can't get that benefit. But we really do believe that the overwhelming number of educators will present themselves for vaccination.

"The mood is quite positive, as you could have seen, educators they are quite excited. We believe that as we roll out the programme even those that are still doubtful will be able to tell that there is nothing wrong with vaccination, in fact, it's a good thing to do. "
