The department's Kwazi Mthethwa says they are concerned about goings on at the school, after disciplinary action was taken against pupils shown holding shirts with the EFF's logo.

"This comes after a number of reports came through to our offices that suggest there are allegations of racism at that school. We are being led by the district director," he said.

The school believes the pupils contravened the Schools Act.

The boys are facing disciplinary action after they seemingly pledged their support to the EFF in an online photo. The pupils can be seen in the image holding up T-shirts with the party's logo painted on it. They also made a statement on the land issue.

EFF spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi says the boys have the full support of the party.

"There is no school law, by-lay or code of conduct that can ever be in direct violation of our supreme law in the land. Their right to freedom of expression is founded in the Constitution. If they do not drop those charges, they will face the full might of EFF mass power," he said.

According to the charge sheet, the boys allegedly breached the school's code of conduct and social media policies.
