KZN Education probing school 'scissor attack'
Updated | By Bernadette Wolhuter
A disturbing video clip that appears to show a Durban pupil being stabbed with a pair of scissors during a classroom brawl has emerged on social networks.
The footage shows two boys involved in a fight.
An onlooker is seen handing one boy a pair of scissors and moments later, it appears as if one of them has been stabbed.
The DA's Rishigen Viranna believes the video was taken two weeks ago at a local high school.
KwaZulu-Natal Education's Kwazi Mthethwa says they are trying to establish whether the attack occurred at a school in our province.
"We have seen the video, I can confirm that but we cannot confirm if indeed it's one of our schools. To this end, we are going to rely on our authorities from the school, the circuit and the district," said Mthethwa.
Mthethwa says action will be taken if the incident occurred in KwaZulu-Natal.
"We do not condone violence and if it is that those learners come from our school, we will tackle the matter head on," he said.
