KZN Education heads to Hammarsdale school over teacher, pupil brawl
Updated | By Sandile Zikhali
KwaZulu-Natal Education officials says they will be making an urgent visit to a Hammarsdale school, where a fist fight between a pupil and a teacher was caught on camera.
In the clip that's gone viral on social media, the 20-year-old Grade 11 learner can be seen throwing punches at the teacher - while the man tries to grab him.
Teachers union, EUSA says the teacher tried to take the pupil to the principal's office, after he allegedly disrupted a Grade 12 exam on Thursday.
The department's Kwazi Mthethwa says the Luthayi High School learner has been suspended.
"Violent abuse is abuse - whether it comes from a learner or a teacher," Mthethwa said.
