Transport officials say the driver has expressed remorse and says he regrets his actions.
A driver has handed himself over to authorities after a video of him dancing while hanging out of a moving bakkie sparked outrage on social media.
The man, with a festival wristband on, is seen in video footage holding the steering wheel with one hand, as he boogies down to music on the side step of the vehicle.
His passengers cheer him on, while one appears to be calling him out.

The stunt happened on an access road in Underberg.
It continues for nearly 40 seconds before the man returns to his seat and drives properly.
While the road appeared empty in the footage, the KwaZulu-Natal Transport Department says it is a frequently used public route.
Driver tracked and hands himself over
Spokesperson Ndabezinhle Sibiya says an investigation was launched to trace the driver.
He later handed himself over to the Road Traffic Inspectorate in Pinetown.
We welcome the fact that the driver does not drink alcohol, and he is remorseful. He regrets his action and is prepared to reshape his life for the better.- Ndabezinhle Sibiya
“For the record, the driver was on the public road as per the National Road Traffic Act 93 of 96. This road is commonly used by the public,” said Sibiya.
Authorities warn against dangerous stunts
"We therefore wish to draw the attention of motorists and passengers to the National Road Traffic Act and its regulations. The act stipulates that no person driving or having a vehicle on a public road shall allow any part of their body to protrude beyond a vehicle while it is in motion on a public road."

"In addition, the driver should be positioned to exercise control of the vehicle at all times and avoid stunts that may cause injury to himself and passengers. When driving a vehicle, the driver must have a complete view of the roadway and traffic ahead of them."
Sibiya says officials have since questioned the driver and will determine what action to take following an assessment of the incident.
