KZN Cogta calls for tough penalties in Sithole's murder
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
KZN Co-operative Governance is calling for the harshest possible sentence for the two murder suspects of slain municipal official, Sibusiso Sithole.
The former Richmond municipal manager was fatally shot in his car last March. He had been on his way to the local licensing centre.
Both suspects appeared in the Richmond Magistrate's Court last week, however their case has been postponed to next Monday.
The department has denied claims that Sithole's death is a politically motivated murder. MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube says they hope court proceedings will unveil the truth behind this incident.
"We are always anxious that if these people are getting away with murder - it means they will continue to commit the crimes. Nobody should lose their lives in any sort of way. We want to see anyone being put away forever. that our communities can live in peace and our people can live freely," Dube-Ncube said.
