KZN ANCYL gives Mchunu ultimatum

The ANC Youth League in KZN has given Premier Senzo Mchunu three days to distance himself from this week's march against the results of the recent ANC elective Provincial Conference or they'll lay an internal charge against him.

Hundreds of ANC members marched to the party's provincial headquarters in Durban on Monday saying the election that saw Sihle Zikalala replacing Mchunu as Provincial Chairperson was rigged and calling for a re-run.

Briefing the media in Durban today the Youth League's Thanduxolo Sabelo dismissed the group's memorandum as baseless.

''If there is a march coming in my name, that means I must stand up in defence of the African National Congress. Any leader of the ANC would have stood up the minute it happens, and say I do not support this.

''So now we're giving him three days to clear his name and if not we are laying a formal charge against him because his silence is actually very loud. [The march] was done in his name,'' he said.
