Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
A Kruger National Park field ranger has died after being shot, allegedly by rhino poachers.
The South African National Parks says the man was shot while tracking a group of suspects near Crocodile Bridge yesterday.
A doctor was flown in by helicopter to treat the ranger, but he died en route to hospital.
SANParks spokesperson, Isaac Phaahla says they are in the process of informing the ranger's family about his death.
"Unfortunately in the ensuing confusion the perpetrators managed to escape. There are ongoing operations and police have opened a murder docket," he said.
