Police in Durban North have opened an inquest docket after the death of an 8-year-old child at the Riverside Sports Club on Friday.
Paramedics, stationed at the club, immediately rushed to the boy but nothing more could be done to save him.
The police's Nqobile Gwala says they're looking into what happened.
"The child was watching soccer when with other people at Riverside Sports Ground when the wind caused the goalpost to fall onto the boy's head. The circumstances are being investigated," Gwala said.
