Improved resources needed for special needs schools: expert

Parliamentary officials are looking into whether South Africa's provisions for special needs learners are adequate.
The Portfolio Committee on Basic Education conducted oversight visits to a number of specialist schools in the country.
Some of the concerns are a lack of suitable learning materials and learners with disabilities having to cover long distances to reach their schools.
Education analyst, Professor Kobus Maree says government needs to put in some effort to make quality education accessible to these learners.
