IFP rules out coalition arrangement with ANC
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
With the political future of 21 hung municipalities still up in the air in KZN, the IFP has explained why it won't get into bed with its rival after last week's local elections.
"We will not enter into a coalition with the ANC. The ANC has not been honest with us in the past, they have let down the people of South Africa and the voters clearly expressed themselves when it comes to the ANC,” IFP president Velenkosini Hlabisa said on Sunday.
He addressed the media on the IFP's position after the November polls.

He said while a coalition team's begun talks with other parties, they're not budging in municipalities where they won the majority vote.
"We will not enter into any cooperation agreement with a arty that advocates or supports racism. Neither will we enter any cooperation agreement with a party clouded with controversies of corruption and municipal mismanagement."
The IFP emerged as the biggest winner in the local government elections in KZN securing five of the 11 district municipalities.
Hlabisa vowed to sign performance agreements with all the party’s mayors.
"After the first 100 days in office, the performance of efvery mayor will be monitored and reviewed against this agreement. If any of them has failed to perform the IFP will not hesitate to withdraw him or her.”
