Reports of IFP coalition disagreements ‘comes from media’, says Hlabisa
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
The IFP has refuted weekend reports, claiming disagreements among the party’s top leaders over coalition choices in KZN.
The Sunday Times reported that party president Velenkosini Hlabisa supported an arrangement with the ANC and the DA in KZN, while provincial chair Thami Ntuli sought a coalition with the MK party.
In last month’s polls, Jacob Zuma's Umkhonto weSizwe party dethroned the ANC in KZN, while the IFP became the second-biggest party in the province.
Hlabisa has dismissed reports of internal disputes.
"That comes from the media, we don't know it,” he told Newswatch on Monday.
Hlabisa said the IFP will announce the party’s decision on a government of national unity this week.

The ANC has proposed the formation of this type of government following its failure to win an outright majority in the general elections.
"The task team is engaging with other political parties; we will indicate during the course of the week the progress that has been achieved,” the IFP leader said.
