ICT experts brought in to support e-learning: Nzimande
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Higher Education Minister, Blade Nzimande says they've brought in an Information Communication and Technology Team to better prepare for e-learning during lockdown.
The team is formed of volunteers and key players in the ICT department to look at the challenges faced in filling the gap of e-learning and the role of ICT can play.
Nzimande has held a virtual meeting to discuss ways forward to save the academic year.
Since late March the country has been in lockdown forcing universities and colleges to shut down.

Nzimande says there are still a lot of gaps to fill.
"I've taking an active interest in this just to see how deep we can go and come to the extent to even knowing who of our students have access to devices," he said.
Nzimnde says they are also engaging with cell phone companies to look into two things, a zero rating of educational websites as well as the issue of data."
