Human trafficking suspect to appear in court
Updated | By MornéJK
A 42-year-old Nigerian man will appear in court on charges related to human trafficking after five girls were rescued from a house in Springs, Gauteng.
The police's Thivhulawi Tshilate says the girls, who are between the ages of 14 and 19, were allegedly kidnapped.
The suspect was out on bail for similar offences when he allegedly kidnapped the girls.
Tshilate says they received a tip-off from community members that the girls, from Balfour in Mpumalanga and Springs, were being held against their will.
"We also found pornographic materials in the house and the suspects was in possession of drugs," he says.
Due to their age the children were taken to a place of safety.
"The suspect could not give an explanation as to why these children were being kept in his house," Thilate says.
