KZN Human Settlements counting damage costs after heavy rain

Authorities are assessing the cost of damage after torrential rains battered parts of eThekwini last week.
KwaZulu-Natal Human Settlements said it has been given a preliminary report.
Over 1200 people have been affected, with more than 50 homes either completely or partially destroyed in uMlazi, south of Durban.
Over the weekend, around 16 families were moved to temporary shelters.
"We are also going to be indicating how many communities that are in need of shelter, because a team that has been assigned is currently doing a profile of households," said the Department's spokesperson, Ndabezinhle Sibiya.
Human Settlements Minister Thembi Simelane is set to visit affected areas on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the SA Weather Service said it is going to be a wet week for KZN.
Forecaster Wiseman Dlamini said there is a 30% chance of rain in the northern parts on Monday.
"On Tuesday, once again, there's a 30% chance of showers over the northeastern parts of the province. On Wednesday, 30% chance of showers and rain over the southern parts.
“And then there is some more unexpected on Thursday, there's 30% chance across KZN, with 60% expected on Friday," said Dlamini.
