Hlabisa urges KZN residents to protect community water infrastructure
Minister Hlabisa has urged residents to report vandalism, theft and illegal water connections, warning that they damage infrastructure and can disrupt water supply to communities.
COGTA Minister Velenkosini Hlabisa has appealed to residents to help protect community water infrastructure.
He delivered the keynote address at the official handover of the KwaHlokohloko Water Reticulation Project in the uMlalazi Local Municipality on Tuesday.
Hlabisa says the project will improve access to water in many communities in the area.
The minister has urged residents to report vandalism, theft and illegal connections, warning that they cause damage to infrastructure and can disrupt water supplies.
"Be the police. Be the supervisors."
"Be the watchmen. Be the owners of this project. Do not allow anyone to destroy it, because if it is damaged, it will take a long time to repair and you will be left fetching water from the same places where your cattle also drink.”
