High Court rules Booysen suspension unlawful
Updated | By Zongile Mthimkhulu
The Durban High Court has this morning ruled in favour of KwaZulu-Natal Hawks Head, Johan Booysen - overturning his the latest suspension and ordering that he be allowed to return to work.
Booysen was suspended in September after being charged with misconduct, for allegedly providing false information on a reward claim forms.
His lawyers argued the decision to suspend him was irrational and unlawful on the basis he had no hand in drafting or signing the reward claim forms in question.
In 2012, he successfully stopped two other attempts to suspend him by approaching the high court.
Booysen maintains the suspensions are aimed at keeping him out of office.
He has spoken to Newswatch about his latest court victory.
"I was always confident that the court would rule in my favour because I know the suspension was unlawful. I'm back at my office," he said.
