DA acts against Zille
Helen Zille has been suspended.
She faces suspension from all party-related activities pending the conclusion of her disciplinary hearing.
Zille is under investigation for allegedly breaching the DA's constitution for tweeting that colonialism was not all bad.
DA leader Mmusi Maimane says he was deeply offended by Zille's tweets.
"It has become quite fundamentally clear that premier Zille and I hold fundamentally different attitudes about the direction the Democratic Alliance needs to accomplish in 2019."
He says the tweets are damaging to the DA's reconciliation efforts.
