Heavy rains batter parts of KZN
Updated | By Newswatch
The heavy rains that battered parts of KZN have left a trail of destruction of their wake.

Rescue teams have been working through the night at Lamontville, south of Durban, where five people are believed to have been swept away by a flash flood into a canal.
"At this stage it is reported that two men and three children under the age of 17 are missing," said ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson.
Durban firefighters and the police's search and rescue teams have been scouring thick mud to find the missing group.

Jamieson said the floodwaters tore through homes, bringing down plants and branches.
"You can imagine the amount of water that came through here from Gwala Street through the houses. It is believed these people were trying to get away from the rising water and unfortunately were carried away by it."
There are also reports of several routes that have become waterlogged in and around Durban due to the storm.
