Grade 11 learner, friend arrested for allegedly snatching school computers

Two people have been arrested in connection with a robbery at an Umlazi school, south of Durban.
Zwelibanzi High School had to cancel its computer exams two weeks ago after monitors were stolen.

Police followed up on information and were led to the township's J-Section.
SAPS spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says a Grade 11 pupil and his friend have been linked to the crime.
"[Police] arrested two suspects aged 20 and 21, and they managed to recover a total of 17 computer monitors." she said.
Gwala said a laptop and a school projector was also recovered.

KZN Education MEC Kwazi Mshengu welcomed the arrests. He says the theft of digital equipment at the province's school is a major setback, especially as the country works towards achieving the fourth industrial revolution.
