I don't have any evidence against President Zuma: Gordhan
Former Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan has echoed the call by Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa for a judicial commission of inquiry into allegations of state capture.
Speaking to CNN, Gordhan was asked if he had any information directly implicating President Jacob Zuma in acts of corruption.
"No, I don't have any personal information but there are all sorts of suggestions, not just about the president, but about people in the private sector and people inthe public sector and that information needs te be tested," he told the host, Christiane Amanpour.
Gordhan also said that the best way to "clear the matter" is by way of putting all of the evidence and allegation before a senior judge.
"There are a number of people in government and in leadership positions in the ANC who are profoundly committed to eradicate corruption," he said.
He added that the ANC may have to hit rock bottom, before it can be motivated to renew itself.
"If we continue as we are in the African National Congress we are likely to lose the 2019 elections and we need to do the right thing by the people of South Africa," he said.
