Global communities press for progress on International Women's Day

Activists, community leaders and the general public are 'pressing for progress' on this International Women's Day.
International Women's Day petitions for equal rights for all women. The day also celebrates women's achievements in all fields - including science, politics, and academics.
Global marches, conferences, and festivals have today been held worldwide.
Members of the UK Parliament and political parties are calling for women in Northern Ireland to be allowed access to abortion services locally.

In Spain, woman have taken the day off as the country hosts its first "feminist strike". They are standing against sexual discrimination, domestic violence and calling for equal pay.
Back home, President Cyril Ramaphosa says South Africans should work together to significantly improve the status of young women in the economy.
The Suffragettes first observed 'lnternational Women's Day' in 1911.
Meanwhile - Google has reached out to 12 female artists to share their stories in a series of visual narratives - using their famous Doodle.
