Girl taken during New Germany hijacking reunited with family

The 4-year-old girl who was allegedly taken during an armed
hijacking in New Germany, near Pinetown has been reunited with her family.
Details surrounding the girl’s return are scant at the moment, but police she was not harmed in the ordeal.
SAPS spokesperson Thembeka Mbele says the child had been travelling with her father when they stopped at traffic lights at the intersection of Dinkelman and Shepstone roads on Saturday morning.
Mbele says four people then approached the vehicle and allegedly forced the man out of the car before speeding off, while the girl was still in the backseat.
“Someone phoned the girl’s parents and an arrangement was made to have her returned. No arrests have been made and police are still investigating,” she said.
