Speaking to SABC News outside Mthethwa’s home last night, the ANC’s Malusi Gigaba said that Mthethwa’s contributions to South Africa mustn't be forgotten.

"Nathi leaves South Africa in a difficult moment but it is better than when he found it and I think his contribution must be understood in respect of all those roles and responsibilities he carried in his different aspect of our social engagement," saus Gigaba.

He says Mthethwa was worried about the condition of the ANC and all of the challenges it faces.  that's why he was so indispensable in the program of political and organizational renewal.

"You'll hear the spirit of his ideas coming out about our conduct, about the character of the ANC."
