A rescue
mission in Montclair, south of Durban ended on a positive note for a stray pup
that appeared to have fallen some 12 metres into a drain.
Residents who heard the animal's cries from the drain posted messages on social media on Monday asking for help.
Life Response's Leon Fourie says officials from DrainTech and a plumber from Just-In Time Plumbers who used special video equipment to locate the puppy assisted them.
"About two hours later, I stuck my hand down the pipe, and I managed to get the puppy out. A vet from Montclair was there on standby. It was a huge community effort and then a healthy puppy came out of it," he said.
Fourie says they were relieved when they pulled the little dog out.
The pup has been adopted by a plumber.
