Fuel price may increase in August: economist

An economist feels the fuel price could increase next month.
Motorists were given significant relief at the pumps in July when the Energy Department lowered the petrol price by 68 and 69 cents a litre, depending on the grade.
Diesel came down by 60 cents.

Economist Dawie Roodt believes motorists might feel the pinch in August.
"Chances are that we are going to see an increase in the petrol price of between 5 and 10 cents a litre. It's a bit early to say but an increase seems to be likely unless the rand appreciates or the oil price suddenly collapses," he says.
