France joins UK, US against North Korea nuclear test
Updated | By Sky News
France has added its voice to those slamming claims by North Korea that it successfully tested its first hydrogen bomb.
North Korea says the move is a historic event.
The United Kingdom and United States have also condemned the development.
State media made the announcement following reports of an earthquake near a known nuclear testing ground.
Journalist Don Kirk has told Sky News it's a significant development.
"Going back to 2006, this test along with three previous nuclear tests is a very ominous sign," he said.
He added that these tests probably represent an escalation of their nuclear capabilities.
Meanwhile, some experts are sceptical. They believe the detected seismic activity suggested a smaller device.
