Four people killed on KZN roads

A driver was ejected from his vehicle in a collision on the R102 between Verulam and Ottawa north of Durban on Saturday night.
According to reports from the scene he lost control of this car moments after hitting a pedestrian.

Netcare's 911 Shawn Herbst says the driver had been ejected from the car during the rollover.
"The patient was found to be in a critical condition and required advanced life support intervention. Sadly, the patient's condition deteriorated, and he was declared deceased on the scene," he said.
"The pedestrian that was knocked, sustained moderate injuries and was stabilised on the scene before being transported by ambulances to hospital for further intervention," he said.
Meanwhile, three people were killed when their car collided with a truck on the R56 in Richmond, in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, on Sunday.

ER 24's Ineke van Huyssteen says the victims were travelling in the car.
"[Paramedics] found a truck lying on its side and a vehicle partially off the roadway, unfortunately three people inside the vehicle had sustained fatal injuries and were declared dead at the scene," she said.
Emergency Services in KZN have made another appeal to motorists to always put their seat belts on.
