Four Dis-Chem staffers arrested for fraudulent vaccination cards
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Dis-Chem has confirmed that four staff members have been arrested for allegedly issuing fraudulent vaccination cards at a vaccination site.
The retail pharmacy chain says that these were temporary employees who were nabbed at its branch at Krugersdorp President Square in Johannesburg.
It's stressed that this was an isolated incident.
Dis-Chem's explained, in a statement, that discrepancies were picked up during daily vaccine stock management practices and routine checks with government's Electronic Vaccination Data System (EVDS) system.
CEO Iven Saltzman says they acted immediately.
He added that it was upsetting to see that a small number of individuals felt they could take advantage of the vaccine roll-out programme.
